Welcome to Tuesday.  Finally, we get to get back to our novels!  To be honest, it feels great. But, before we get to that…

As we move forward, I want you to stop for a moment and consider your current SBAC test scores.  We went over these a couple months ago, and most of you wrote your scores in your agendas. We will be taking MAPS tests in January, and you want to show growth.

Today we start working on the next grading period.  Everyone gets to start from scratch.  I want everyone to re-focus and do  their best to get good grades and to learn as much as possible.

Today we will:

  1. Complete our daily starters
  2. Delete sentences that don’t fit within a paragraph.
  3. Read from our novels.

This will be an easy week for all of us.  I will be entering grades for the last grading period, and we will be spending time getting back to our novels.  Don’t forget that today is the last day to turn in missing work.  It will take me a while to get all of your late assignment in to the computer, so be patient.  Besides the missing work, each of you also owes me the 2nd draft or our essays today.  These are really important, so I hope you have them ready.  Frayer Models are also due today, as are reading logs.  Go ahead and get them out now.

0630161141_HDR-01

Today is Friday.  You’ve known all week that today there would be a sub.  I want you to be on your best behavior for our GUEST.   Please treat our guest like a GUEST.

Today we will

  1. Complete our daily starters
  2. we will continue to work on our missing assignments.  There are plenty to be made up, and for some of you, this is your last day to get your work done.  You should do your best to complete all your assignments.  If you’ve done everything, then you might want to complete our extra credit writing assignment.  As I said yesterday, this will be a really GOOD assignment to complete.
  3. Last night I started to put in some of our Literary Terms Dictionaries.  I noticed that a lot of you didn’t complete this.  It’s an easy assignment that is worth a lot of points (75!!!).  You might want to work on this.  You also need to complete your essays.  There is so much to do that you really should do all you can to stay on task the whole period.

The Guest teacher will let me know if anyone needs to stay for detention next week.  But, I don’t think this will be an issue.  I am sure each of you will do your best.

120806 – Thursday – Day 82

Flagstaff aby & Santa

It is Thursday.  I will be out working as an administrator for at least periods 1, 2, and 3.  If all goes well, I will be back for periods 4 and 5.  I want everyone to be on task today and doing their best.

I checked yesterday, and was told that I cannot let you guys use the Chromebooks when I am not with you, so I’ve had to make other plans.

Today we will complete our daily starters.

After that, all my classes will watch this video on citing sources (the author of your text). Citing Sources.

You will need to pay attention to this, because you will then complete an extra-credit assignment that will help each of you (who completes the assignment) the chance to improve your grade for this semester.

This assignment will require you to respond to 2 prompts.  These prompts will be about the novels we are currently reading.  For period 1 and 2, the novel is The Giver.  For Period 3, you will be comparing A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court to The Once and Future King.  As you complete the assignment, you need to make sure that you write an entire paragraph that includes introduced quotes and cites that quote.  You should read the instructions carefully, and use our resources in order to do a good job.

Body Paragraph Guide

Periods 4 and 5 will have the opportunity to do this assignment as well.  But, may also continue on our missing assignment or our essay.  Remember, everything is due Monday.
